Terms of Use

Last updated: 13 July 2026

1. The app

Kalamos is free, open-source software provided to help you read, study, and annotate scripture on your own devices. By installing or using it you agree to these terms.

2. License

Kalamos is distributed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 (GPL-3.0). You are free to use, study, share, and modify it under the terms of that license. The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors are not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the use of the app.

3. Your content and third-party material

Your notes, handwriting, documents, and study material are yours. Kalamos does not claim any rights over them.

Kalamos lets you import content you already have — including Bible translations, commentaries, and study guides — for your own personal use. Some of that material is copyrighted by its publishers. The app does not ship or redistribute copyrighted content; it is your responsibility to ensure you have the right to use any material you import. Content bundled with, or offered for download inside, the app is limited to public-domain or freely-redistributable works, or works you supply.

4. Optional online services

If you connect third-party services (a cloud provider for sync, a module repository, or an API key), your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Kalamos is not responsible for third-party services.

5. No accounts

Kalamos has no user accounts and collects no personal data. See the Privacy Policy.

6. Changes

These terms may be updated; the current version is always posted here with its "last updated" date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
